Zoo trip

Bula Bloggers on Tuesday Hay Park School seniors went on a trip to the zoo.We saw a lot of amazing animals.We saw an elephant,giraffe,tiger,lion and a zebra.We could hear noises coming from near the waterfall.It sounded like birds chirping.Our class learnt about the blue whio duck. We didn't get to see it because we couldn't find it and they are also great at camouflaging and hiding.Did you know that the whio duck is in danger?Pests keep killing the whio duck and they eat them.One of the pests that come and kill is stoats possums and hedgehogs.Also did you know that the blue whio duck is on the ten dollar note.Any way back to the story.After we talked about the blue whio duck we had lunch.After this we went to see all the other fantastic animals.When we finished looking at all the animals we had lunch.After lunch we waited for the bus to come then we hopped in the bus and drove back to school.Once we arrived to school we hopped out of the bus and we all said thank you to the amazing bus driver for taking us to the zoo.   Here is a photo of a blue whio bird

Pest Trackers

Last week Hansen class has been making pest trackers to track pests. The materials we needed was peanut butter,paper,milk bottles,sponge,tape,scissors,food coloring and a black plastic bag.We are learning about native birds because dangerous pests have been hurting our native birds and we don't want that to happen.A lot of birds are becoming extinct. We have been doing this so we know what kind of pests we have at our school.For example stoats,possums,rats and hedgehogs.Some of our classmates put there trackers in the jungle,bush walk and the back garden.We put the trackers out on Friday. Then we waited till Monday to check if there was any footprints on our trackers.When I looked at my tracker on Monday I noticed that the peanut butter was soggy and wet.Also I noticed that the peanut butter was all covered in ants but it wasn't just ordinary ants they were a type of ant.The color of the ant was a little bit orange.I think it didn't work because the rain might of been to strong so I thing the rain scared the pests and they might of ran away. I should change nothing because I really think that the rain has caused this problem.I think this would of worked if the weather wasn't that bad.

Welcome bloggers today I will be showing you some of my learning about a book we have been reading in class.The book we were reading was How Maui found his father and the magic jawbone.After we read the book we did a story map.This task was a little bit challenging because it was hard to find the problem and the solution.When it was hard I never gave up and I was resilient.When it was tricky I got the book and looked for main points in the text.When you look for main points in the text it is called skimming and scanning.Feel free to leave a comment on my post.Thank you
